Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in partnership with WingTech, launched the DroneX Summer Technical Programme for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), reinforcing efforts to develop young talent in emerging aviation technologies.

The programme was inaugurated under the patronage of Eng Naif bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of CAA.

The initiative reflects the authority's ongoing commitment to equipping students with practical skills in modern technologies, promoting the safe and responsible use of drones, and preparing a new generation capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in the aviation and advanced technology sectors.

Targeting school students from Grades 9 to 11, the summer programme combines classroom instruction with hands-on practical training, enabling participants to strengthen their technical capabilities, discover their talents during the school holiday, and explore future academic and career opportunities in civil aviation.

The programme features three specialised training tracks covering operational drone flying, technical maintenance, and the design, assembly and operation of first-person view (FPV) drones. The curriculum is designed to provide participants with advanced practical skills in line with international best practices in the rapidly evolving drone industry.
